Just found this stuff located at http://infinitnutrition.us and it is great.

I usually take gel on the bike and run, which is a pain since you have to have a way of carrying enough for my calorie consumption. They also can be a bit heavy on the stomach.

This stuff is much better, I can get 300+ calories per 20oz serving along with enough water that it doesn't burn the back of my throat when consuming like gels do.

Never have a problem with stomach irritation and I like the taste.

The best part about this mix is that it is fully tailorable to what your body likes and needs. Cramping and running out of "steam" has not been a problem ever since I have started training with it.

Hopefully this stuff will help give me an edge during the Half-Redman.

I just got one of these over the Fourth of July break and I am quite impressed with the screen resolution and the rock solid performance of this thing. Looking forward to really tearing into it and getting some use out of it.

My Zaurus 5600 is nice and works well with the Sharp ROM. It is a little unstable with the OpenZaurus releases, but hopefully in time that will change.

Me and the wife competed in our first triathlon today....and we are still alive

While I am quite strong in the swimming department, I cannot say the same thing about the bike and the run. I have been running for quite some time, but my pace that I am comfortable with is around a 10 minute mile. While in training I have been able to get down to an 8.5 minute mile, I was not able to maintain that type of pace today.

Running after biking a distance is really quite difficult, your legs feel quite like bricks and for the first half-mile it is quite painful and uncomfortable. Today I had a lot of trouble catching my breath throughout the whole triathlon. The run, however, is were I felt the most pain, and for a couple of seconds on more than one occassion I felt like I could not breath.

The triathlon that we competed in today was the Lighthouse Triathlon sponsored by a fitness center of the same name. The distances were: 500 yard swim, followed by a 13 mile bike ride, completing with a 5K run.

I am really quite impressed with the kindness of the people participating in triathlons and hope to be healthy enough to keep participating for a long time.

Subject: Audio codec
Well, it seems that my DVD Mastering program (Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 SE) can't take the audio in a divX avi file and convert it to something useful when converting it to MPEG-4. All I seem to get is a "decent" video and only the main menu has sound.

Needless to say that side-effect was not expected. Opening up Ulead's Video Studio 7 SE DVD as well as VirtualDub led me to what the problem was. It could not determine what type of audio was encoded with the video. Not sure of the anatomy of an avi file, but what I found was disturbing.

Until I ran across a post about whether ffmpeg supports mp3 audio I was pretty much at a loss. Once I started to take a look at the options of ffmpeg and then turned my eye back to nuvexport. In the same file I modified in an earlier post (export_divX.pm) was were the problem lay. It seems that the ffmpeg command parameters is devoid of an '-acodec' option. I was able to add in:

Code:

-acodec mp3

right after

Code:

$command = "nice -n 19 ffmpeg -y -f s16le -ar $nuv_info{audio_sample_rate} -ac 2 -i fifodir/audout

this is line 137 if you also include the previous post modifications or is on line 114 if you have a virgin file.

Now my editing/mastering programs can now recognize that I actually have some audio. The next step is to test my work by making another DVD with the new files and see if I actually get sound this time .

mythTV :: nuvexport modifications

Subject: nuvexport modifications
Topic Replies: 0

I have modified the nuvexport script to perform a little bit better for me when encoding to DivX, which is what I usually use.

First off, I changed the defaults used by the export_DivX.pm shown below. (I really like these settings, I get a good quality movie that is reasonable in size for me.):

Code:

          'use_cutlist' => 1,    #This can cause a problem with transcode if there is not a cutlist. :(
          'a_bitrate'   => 96,
          'v_bitrate'   => 1200,

Then I modified the section that determines the default name for the recording. (Background: I was having problems creating files that had some special characters in them. So I took the list of characters that Windows XP can't handle in filenames and used that for my baseline. Eventhough I am encoding these all on my linux box, I copy them over to my samba share on my server and don't want to get the 8-character truncation.):

Starting at line: 43 replace everything up to and including line: 52

Code:

          if($self->{episode}->{show_name} =~ /\\|\/|:|\*|\?|"|<|>|\|/ or $self->{episode}->{title} =~ /\\|\/|:|\*|\?|"|<|>|\|/) {

For those that don't know you can flag commercials automatically with mythTV and then cut them out when you export the recording via nuvexport, here is a little tutorial. To do this you must first record a show, then follow the easy steps below:

1. Play back the show you recorded, pressing "m" when it starts playing.

2. Next press the "z" key. This will show you what has been marked as a commercial, seen in red.

3. Using the arrow keys, space key, and the enter key you can manipulate the markings to get things perfect. (See below for a list of key functions)

4. After you are finished editing, press the "m" key again. This returns the show to viewing mode.

5. Run nuvexport it should prompt you on what to do with the cutlist, type Yes and your commercials will be skipped. Yes it is that easy. enjoy!

Up Arrow -- increase the time used to step through the recording.

Down Arrow -- Decrease the time used to step through the recording.

Forward Arrow -- Steps through the recording at the set interval.

Back Arrow -- Reverses throught the recording at the set interval.

Enter or Space -- Brings up command options for the current position.

Page Up -- Skips backwards to cut points.

Page Down -- Skips forward to cut points.

Other -- ???

If you know any other commands post them below, these are just the ones I know.

Hope this helps someone!

I have finally fixed the white parts of the icons that made them look bad with the dark background. I think they look pretty good. They are by no means perfect but for a not so artistic guy, I think I did a good job. Still need to do something about the "lime" color, but not sure just yet.

I fixed a couple of graphics, mainly the mini icons and some other icons that didn't look right. I have also added ranks and images for those ranks, uploaded some more avatars and I am now working on the rest of the site icons, but they are a pain in the neck. Let me know what you think.

I tried to change the icons to ones that would look good on a black background but the ones I found look worst than the current ones. I am going to have to just fix the current icons. I didn't want to do that but I don't have any alternatives. I also have to fix one other image, it is about a pixel or two too short.

I have about finished tweaking with the colors on the forums. I think it looks pretty good but I am going to work on the "lime" color on the colum headers, it is a little bold.
